2012 FOCUS

performance spec

In an effort to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and give purpose to an under-used space, the 2012 MAX_minimum Design Competition asks entrants to design a "performance space" located at the exterior east-end of the UT Art + Architecture Building.

performance specification, definition: A written requirement that describes the functional performance criteria required for a particular equipment, material, or product. In contrast, a design specification describes design characteristics and manufacturing methodology.

This year’s competition explores a play on the idea of performance and how architecture frames performance and spectacle as users activate the envisioned spaces.

Remember: embedded in every performance spec is the possibility of an extraordinary response.
